1.4 million jobs were added in August.
In August the unemployment rate in the United States dropped below 9% for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic knocked out a massive swath of American jobs. Fewer jobs were added in August than in July with 1.4 million new positions added last month down from 1.7 the month prior. In total, about half of the jobs lost to the pandemic are gone permanently.
The Department of Labor reported that a growing number of people are reporting that their jobs are gone permanently. However, President Trump praised the progress saying the job growth “is many, many months ahead of schedule.” In total there are 4.7 million fewer jobs than when the president took office.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That God would provide for those out of work.
- That God would guide the labor department to accurately measure the job market.
- That President Trump would bring an end to the pandemic.
